Special Gifts Endowment Fund
The Chesapeake District LWML maintains a Special Gifts Endowment Fund for the purpose of receiving unrestricted gifts from individuals, groups or other sources, including memorials, honorariums and bequests, and using them for the mission and ministry of the Chesapeake District LWML. Cards are sent to the recipients (or their families) to let them know a gift was given in their name, and a Special Gifts Fund memorial book is maintained and can be viewed at District conventions.
Monies from this Fund may be disbursed in amounts up to $300 for small mission projects, special expenses or other programs recommended by the Special Gifts Endowment Fund Committee and approved by the Executive Committee. All requests should reflect the mission statement of the LWML.
As an example, funds may be directed to support programs and activities at a Chesapeake District sponsored Convention such as to compensate speakers or other invited guests, and/or to provide partial or full scholarships for the registration costs for selected attendees. In the past, funds have been used to allow several Heart to Heart sisters to attend a Christian Life retreat, to start an outreach program to the Spanish speaking community near Ashland, VA, and to support missionary Kate Phillips in the Dominican Republic.
