The Christian Life Retreat was held in Ocean City on October 20-22. I had an AWESOME time! It was great listening to our fantastic retreat leader, Deb Burma sharing her “Stepping Out to Life on the Edge” Bible study. I feel spiritually renewal and uplifted! There were 151 attendees (women and men).
The Saturday night entertainment was Jeff Smith, from Salt and Light Ministries, who was hilarious! It’s a shame that no one videod Karen Matthiesen and I playing Pharaoh and Moses, which we had to sing opera style! That was hard to do since we both were laughing so much.
For the Servant events, ladies were busy coloring the SED Prayer Quilts, painting Kindness Rocks and marking Bibles for the Women’s Maryland Correctional Facility.
For the In-Gathering we collected:
· Toiletries and nonperishable food items for Open Kettle, St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Ocean City
· $705 in gift cards for Lutheran seminary students (which will be split between the two LCMS seminaries, one in St. Louis, one in Ft. Wayne)
· For Orphan Grain Train, we collected: 85 flip flops; 29 Mercy Kits; 27 packs underwear (girls and women); 17 packs underwear (boys and men); and 4 containers of disinfecting wipes.
