Psalm 136:1-3

It's likely we’ve all felt some of these emotions— joy, contentment, peace, fear, pain, anxiety, frustration, excitement, sorrow, confusion, worry, anger, awe, fatigue…the list may be lengthy!

This week our Pastor invited us to meditate on Psalm 136, especially the repetitions of the verse “for his steadfast love endures forever.” Repeated 26 times, the verses are calling us to keep our focus on God. As I studied more about this Psalm, I found this verse described as “a spiritual speed bump”.
I loved that! We’re invited to slow down and reflect on the vastness of God’s love through every emotion. Following our prayers of thanksgivings, confessions and petitions with ‘Your steadfast love endures forever’ is a reminder of God’s faithfulness to His promises. His love for us in every circumstance and condition of heart, body and spirit is changeless. God truly knows our challenges and the joys we feel.

I pray that whichever side of emotions we find ourselves, we find God’s goodness in it and give Him thanks and praise knowing “his steadfast love endures forever.”
